Yahoo Aims To Create A Better Email Experience
Yahoo isn’t done with its shopping spree just yet. Its most recent acquisition is a company called Xobni that makes software to improve the functionality of their customer’s inbox by allowing easy search and discovery of contacts, including those that are not already in a users address book.
According to reports the deal was worth $30 to $40 million. Xobni was once described by Bill Gates as “the next generation of social networking”, which explains why Bill and Microsoft also tried to acquire them in the past. Yahoo will be hoping this acquisition offers them a path to delivering further value to their email clientele. Fun fact for the week is that Xobni is actually inbox spelled backwards. Yahoo will be hoping that’s the only thing that’s backwards as they strive to innovate their current email experience.
