Internet DealBook Q3 2013
There was significant movement in the hardware and infrastructure sector this quarter. Verizon Communications spent big when it worked out a $130bn cash and stock deal to take complete ownership of joint venture Verizon Wireless. This was followed by Dell’s dramatic $24.9bn buyout to go private. Koch’s acquisition of Molex came in at at $7.2bn, with Microsoft’s acquisition of Nokia not far behind at $7.17bn.
The good news for budding software entrepreneurs is that the average deal value of software and services investments rose 60% from Q3 2012 to Q3 2013. This trend is expected to continue to grow as companies, angel investors and VCs continue to look cross-border for deals.
