India’s FreeCharge Raises $33M Series B

Consumers love getting free items and FreeCharge, India’s number one online recharge app, knows this all too well. What makes FreeCharge tick is their clever business model, rewarding users post purchase. The website allows prepaid mobile phone users to recharge their phones and pay utility bills online. The amount paid by the user is given back in the form of freebies and special offers from merchants like McDonalds, CCD, Costa Coffee and others. The site has become so popular in India that investors have now come to the party. In 2011, the company received seed funding from Sequoia Capital, followed by a Series A in 2012.

Today, FreeCharge raised $33M Series B funding again from Sequoia Capital, as well as Sofine and RuNet. Read about the story here.
