After going public in 2013, software marketing company Marketo will be taken private again. Vista Equity Partners has acquired Marketo for $1.79 billion in an all-cash buyout. Vista Equity will pay shareholders $35.25 cash per share, representing a 64% premium to the closing price as of May 9, 2016. The acquisition will allow Marketo, which currently focuses on small and mid-market accounts, to push its enterprise platform for customer engagement. As for Vista Equity, the Marketo acquisition is the latest in its software and technology-focused investments. The PE firm recently purchased Cvent, a cloud-based event management company, for $1.65 billion.
