Razer’s valuation at $1.5 billion – February 22, 2016

Razer, a gaming technology company based in California, has recently raised $75 million from Digital Grid. Razer is a Chinese subsidiary of Hangzhou Liaison Interactive and this transaction valued the company at $1.5 billion. According to reports, the funding is part of a much larger Series C investment. In 2014, the company received funding from Intel and this valued the company at $1 billion. The latest funding received from Digital Grid, which has been investing in startups specialising in smart devices and VR, will set the tone for Razer’s future direction. Razer specializes in creating peripheral gaming items like mouse controllers, keyboards, laptops, games consoles, webcams and wearables. Its most popular product is the Stargazer webcam, which uses Intel RealSense technology to boost the video experience with artificial intelligence. The webcam is able to detect a gamer’s motion and immerses the user deeper into the game.
